Where Aluna is available

This limit is about opening an AUTHOR account, not about who can read or pay you. We only take an author in a country where we are registered to collect that country's sales tax — and we register one country at a time.

We can open an author account in

You do not need to be a company. A freelancer, a sole trader, or one person selling one book is an account we can open today.

Tax in the European Union

Our EU VAT registrations are being completed. Until they are in place we are not opening author accounts in the European Union — we will not bill anyone in a country where we are not registered to collect that country's tax.

This does not touch your readers. Wherever you are, they can pay you from anywhere.

Your readers can be anywhere

This list does not apply to the people who pay you. A bitcoin payment does not ask where the payer is: your reader pays an address derived from your own wallet key, and anyone anywhere can pay it. There is no card network deciding whose money is welcome.

It also means we never see your reader. No name, no card, no billing address — the money goes from them to your wallet, and we are not in the middle of it.

Why the list is short, honestly

It is not a technical limit. Before we can bill an author in a country we have to be registered to collect that country's sales tax, and that is a real obligation with a filing schedule attached. We would rather serve six places properly than forty badly.

If your country is not on the list and you want it to be, write to us. Knowing there is someone waiting is what moves a registration up the queue.
